Commission
Sales: an inside look..
Most people are not aware how commission salespeople
are paid. This article will explain how it works, and why
I prefer to earn money in this fashion.
Working for commission
only, as
a salesperson
with
Nanaimo Toyota for almost four years now, is paying off
for me. I feel much better about how
I earn a living than I did when I was working in a unionized
pulp mill in Northern Ontario getting paid by the hour.
With
commission auto sales, if a sale is not made, there is
absolutely no pay! Let me say this another way: I
don't get paid unless I sell a car! That means that
I have to do the test-driving, the paperwork, and hand you
the keys when you pick-up your car.
If
another salesperson
has to help when I am not available, busy, or off on a sick
day or training day, I have to split the commission
for that particular sale with the other salesperson. Also,
if I am not the salesperson to actually write the order for
the sale,
I do
not
receive
credit for it. It does not count towards
my monthly
sales target.
Commission sales
is not an easy way to earn a living. It takes faith and
belief in yourself and the product you sell.
I really enjoy
when people call ahead to let me know when they are coming
in and
take the time to make an appointment with me. It tells
me that they want to work with me! It tells me that they
want me to
receive the commission and the credit for the sale. They
are letting me know that
they feel comfortable with me. I really appreciate it!
It doesn't matter
how
much
time
a salesperson spends with a client. Whether
I stay at the dealership after hours, arrive early to
take
clients for a test-drive, or even come into work on my day
off to accomodate someone who can only come in on that day,
it still doesn't matter. I don't get paid for the time I
put in. I am not paid
by the
hour
like
an
hourly
wage
earner.
I only get paid when a car is sold.
There have been
times when I have spent a couple of hours helping clients
choose the right car, presenting the features it to them,
giving them the opportunity to drivie it, etc.
and then have them buy the same car at another dealearship,
simply
because
it was convenient. I
receive no pay for my time unless a sale is made by me.
People are
not cruel
by nature and I don't
believe for a minute that anyone would actually do that
if they understood how commission sales worked. By offering
an honest inside look, and real explanation, I hope to
change that. I am highly motivated
by commission auto sales because it is an opportunity for
me to earn income by what I can do for others. With
a positive attitude,
diligence, and commitment to customer service, the sales
happen! It is a win-win for everyone.
It
takes dedication, sincere effort, and confidence in yourself
and your product to work on commission. The result is that
the client's purchase experience is pleasant and comfortable!
If I do not do my job well enough, you might not buy a car.
Every client's situation is different. My focus must remain
constant in order to serve you properly. I see my responsibility
as being the one person who can see to it that your car buying
experience is completely satisfying. So complete that you
will come back to me for your next car. So satisfying that
you will tell your friends and relatives to ask for me when
they too are in the market for a car. After all, referrals
are a big part of my business.
Commission sales
are not for everyone though. An unmotivated salesperson would
not last long due to a lack of sales and income. Frustration
is a common downfall. However, a well-motivated salesperson
will be successful in sales!
They would have an opportunity to increase their income level
too, depending
on
how well they did.
I appreciate it
when someone gives me the opportunity to earn a sale. Even
more so when they
understand how a commissioned salesperson is paid. It is
a pleasure to tell everyone who I meet what I do for a
living
because I know in my heart that I am making a difference
in people’s lives when they purchase a car.
When you enlist me as your salesperson, you will not only
enjoy friendly reliable service; you will have someone
who
cares about your individual needs, and takes the time to
listen to you. After all, I want to earn the sale,
this is my career, and it is how I earn my living and
take care of my family.
Thank you
for taking the time to learn more about commission sales.
