The Matrix is a car that breaks away from traditional rules!

It is called a CUV or Cross-Over Utility Vehicle. It is basically a Toyota Corolla with a new shell and wheels. The Matrix uses the Toyota Corolla platform, suspension, engine, and transmission. So the wheelbase of the Matrix is identical to the Corolla but the Matrix is 7" shorter in overall length.

The Matrix has excellent fuel economy for a utility vehicle too. Many of my clients who now own a Matrix used to drive gas guzzling SUVs like the Nissan Pathfinder or Jeep Cherokee. Size comes at a price.

People also seem to enjoy the seat height of the Matrix. You will likely find it easy to get into and you'll find that your natural driving vision is increased due to the extra height.

Driving the Matrix is comfortable, roomy, and fun. Parking it is easy and so is backing-up. Remember, it drives like a car - not an SUV. The steering is very positive due to its low-profile tires so the handling feels crisp, a bit like a sports car.

Front wheel drive (FWD) or 4 wheel drive (4WD) models are available. The 4WD is an "on demand" system that works like this: at any speed, when the front wheels spin, the rear wheels will "kick in" via a viscous coupling differential that is virtually maintenace-free!
